Named for a general, built by neighbors
For more than ninety years, Anthony Wayne Post 174 has been a home for veterans and their families in Wayne.
Our Post carries the name of General Anthony Wayne, the Revolutionary War commander for whom Wayne Township is also named. Local veterans chartered Post 174 in 1932, and it has been a gathering place for those who served and the families who stood behind them ever since.
The American Legion was founded in Paris on March 15, 1919, and chartered by Congress that same year as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization.
Post 174 is committed to mentoring youth and sponsoring wholesome programs in our community, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
